Write a recommendation letter
A recommendation letter will have a huge impact on your employee’s prospects now, and in the long run.
In order to be useful, it should mention the following details:
- The worker’s full name and ID number (KTP number)
- The period of employment
- A description of the worker’s responsibilities
- A short description of your family to provide some context (ex: “we’re an expat family from France with two children who were 2 and 4 years old at the start of the employment period“)
When describing responsibilities, be as specific as possible. This will help future employers assess whether she an be a good fit for their own family and lifestyle.
For example, was your nanny simply dropping/picking kids from school? Or was she responsible for their meals, actively engaging them through fun activities or organizing play dates?
Was your housekeeper cleaning, ironing. planning weekly meals, cooking, grocery shopping, managing home repairs…? What did she cook? Was she able to read and follow recipes?
How much autonomy did she have in her work? Did you trust her to organize her own schedule and handle money? Did she need guidance/supervision?
-
A description of the worker’s personality
How much did you trust him/her? Was she opened to learning? Did she take initiative? Was she dependable? Did you allow her to take your children out? How did she get along with other staff?
- Your contact details (phone number and/or email)
A recommendation letter can easily be faked and leaving your contact details is the only way for future employers to verify its authenticity.
Recommendation letters are published onto job seekers profiles on www.Kasicare.com but employer names and contact details are always removed. It will be up to the your employee to choose if they wish to reveal your contact details. If this causes any concern, make sure to clarify what your expectations are upon handing the recommendation letter.
