I no longer need to employ my worker, how can I help her find a new job?
1. Tell her about KasiCare
As your family circumstances change, you may no longer need to employ your worker. To help her find new employment, encourage her to register to KasiCare, the only online platform that connects job seekers to families without ever charging workers.
All they need to do is fill out this online form or contact us via WhatsApp 0811-9627-484.2.
2. Write a recommendation letter
Writing a recommendation letter will have a huge impact on your employee’s prospects now, and in the long run. To be useful, a letter of recommendation should mention:
- The worker’s full name and KTP number
- The period of employment
- A description of the worker’s responsibilities
When describing responsibilities, it’s important to be as specific as possible. This will help future employers assess whether she would be a good fit for their own family and lifestyle.
For example, if your staff was looking after your children, was she simply dropping them off and picking them from school? Or was she responsible for their meals, actively engaging them through fun activities or organizing playdates?
If she was a housekeeper, was she cleaning/ironing only? Planning weekly meals, cooking, grocery shopping, managing home repairs…? What did she cook? Was she able to read and follow recipes?
How much autonomy did she have in her work? Did you trust her to organize her own schedule? Did she need guidance/supervision?
- A description of the worker’s personality
Every family hiring a new domestic worker is looking for one essential personality trait: honesty.
Other important questions include: Was she opened to learning? Did you trust her to handle money (groceries, home repairs)? Did she take initiative? Was she dependable? Did you allow her to take your children out? Did she get along with other household staff?
- Your contact details (phone number and/or email)
A recommendation letter can easily be faked and leaving your contact details is the only way for future employers to verify its authenticity.
Employer names and contact details are removed from recommendation letters before they are attached to job seeker’s profiles on Kasicare.com. It will be up to the your employee to choose when to reveal your contact details. If this causes any concern, make sure to clarify what your expectations are upon handing the recommendation letter.
